Gospel Concerts
If you are a fan of Gospel music, then you will undoubtedly enjoy the monthly Gospel Concerts that are performed at the ‘First Christian Church’ in downtown Omaha. This event takes place on the first weekend (The first Saturday of every month) in the evening and showcases the talents of the best Gospel singers in the area. If you enjoy Gospel music, this is where you ought to be.
Nebraska Renaissance Faire
You can take pleasure in the yearly fair that has been held for over ten years now, and get a chance to feel as though you have gone back in time to ‘The Knights of Old’. This fair (or event) takes place during May every year at Bellevue Pumpkin, just outside the city. If you are interested in a means to teleport yourself back to the ‘Medieval Times’, look no further than the Nebraska Renaissance Faire.
Arts Festival
If you are a fan of the arts, you will definitely want to visit ‘University Place’ during August for the annual ‘Arts Festival’. This festival features artists from the local areas, as well as marvelous performances by local singers and dancers. It is purely centered on the arts, hence the name, and takes place every weekend in August in Omaha. Any arts appreciator is bound to be impressed by this display.
Childrens Playhouse
In the middle of the year, during June; you can take your child to the ‘Rose Blumkin Performing Arts Center’ where they may enjoy themselves watching plays performed by children for children. Surprisingly so, there is no money required to watch these performances (they are free), and yet they are a great means of entertainment for your children on weekends.
Omaha Rodeo Contest
During the latter half of July, you can witness the annual Rodeo Contest that takes place at the ‘Outdoor Theater’ in downtown Omaha. You can have a opportunity to see bull riding, bronco busting and musical excitement that you will remember for years to come.
Hindu Temple Tour
If interested in Hinduism, then you will surely want to walk around, or walk through the Hindu Temple of Nebraska. You may visit the temple, and even take a tour through it during the first Saturday of each month starting from May, through till September. Doing so is a great way to discover Hinduism and find out more about this popular religion.
BIG Omaha
For those of you who wish to see the most innovative and the most creative inventions, then you must go to ‘BIG Omaha’, an affair that takes place every year during the 2nd weekend of July at the aptly named ‘Quest Center’ in Omaha. This event show cases the work of a variety of entrepreneurs, inventors, and other such people in a massive exhibition. You can put on display your own things, or just have a look at what’s on show.
As shown in these few examples above, You can surely find music, culture, sports, and a variety of other such fun when you visit Omaha, Nebraska. And the best is; it’s bang in the heart of the United States.

Omaha Public Schools 150th Anniversary Exhibit
In honor of Omaha Public Schools’ 150th Anniversary, an exhibit at the Durham Museum will take visitors on a journey back to the 1860s to learn what school was like for students and teachers when Omaha was a newly-found frontier town. Visitors will be able to follow an interactive timeline through the district’s interesting and rich history showcasing rare photos and one-of-a-kind artifacts.

The Art and History of Ak-Sar-Ben

Bengali Fall Classical Music Concert

Lewis Central Fall Craft Fair
One of the largest fund-raisers for the Lewis Central Bands, the Lewis Central Fall Craft Fair. All proceeds benefit the band program.

Omaha Symphony Special Concert: Itzhak Perlman
Itzhak Perlman is one of the few classical artists to achieve genuine celebrity status. This living legend is just as comfortable playing on The Tonight Show as he is at Carnegie Hall. Recently, the entire world saw his talent and personality shine at President Obama's Inauguration ceremony.

Schoolhouse Fiddle Workshop for Folks Who Have Never Fiddled
For folks who have never played a fiddle or violin, and are brave enough to try, come to this workshop. Championship fiddler and fiddle book author Deborah Greenblatt will share some hints about beginning fiddling, shopping for a fiddle, reading music, playing by ear, etc. Fiddles will be available for participants to play, and source lists and advice for further study will be provided. Pre-registration is required.
